Learning about Bowling from Our Gainesville, FL, Apartments
Bowling is a leisure activity that involves a player rolling a bowling ball down a straight, flat lane toward a set of ten pins. The object of bowling is to knock down as many pins as possible, ideally all ten pins in the first effort – a feat referred to as a strike. A perfect bowling game (that is, getting a strike on each attempt) results in a score of 300.
Here are some other bowling terms to know:
- Spare – When a player knocks down all the remaining pins that were left standing after the first throw.
- Turkey – When a player bowls three strikes in a row.
- Frame – A standard bowling game is separated into 10 frames, where a bowler gets two chances each frame to knock down all 10 pins. (In the 10th frame, though, a bowler gets three efforts if their first or second effort results in a strike or spare, respectively.)
- Split – This happens when, after the first effort, one or more pins have been knocked down, creating a space between the remaining standing pins, making it difficult to attain a spare on the second attempt.
