Home Remedies for Relieving the Itch of a Mosquito Bite at Our Gainesville, FL, Apartments
Most people have experienced the pain and itchiness a mosquito bite brings. These itchy red bumps are caused when a female mosquito lands on a person’s skin and pierces it with their mouth. The bump the mosquito leaves behind is not caused by the insect’s bite, but from the body’s immune system reacting to the proteins in the mosquito’s saliva. Thankfully, though, the bump and ensuing itchiness dissipate with time. But, the bite can be itchy, leaving an unpleasant reaction that a person may want quick relief from. In those cases, there are various home remedies to try.
To find relief from the itchiness of a mosquito bite, one should consider:
- Applying a fresh lemon slice directly to the affected area
- Using a cotton ball to dab apple cider vinegar generously on the bite and surrounding area
- Making a paste with baking soda and water, and then applying it to the bite spot
- Dabbing toothpaste on the bite (for best results, use peppermint toothpaste, as it is said to have anti-inflammatory properties)
- Icing the bite for 10 to 15 minutes (this may relieve the swelling, as well)
Any of these above home remedies can be used right in the comfort of one of our Gainesville, Florida, apartments.
