Health Tip: Exercising throughout the Day
At Bellamay Grand Apartment Homes, we’ve become friends with many of our residents, and as a result, we’ve come to know how busy everyone is. Whether they’re working, spending time with family, going to school, or just keeping up with chores at home, there doesn’t seem to be much time left over for our anyone to exercise.
So, what are busy residents of Gainesville apartments to do to stay healthy? According to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, adults should engage in moderate-intensity physical activities for at least 30 minutes on five or more days of the week, or vigorous-intensity physical activity for at least 20 minutes per occasion on three or more days per week. Thankfully, however, fitness is not an all-or-nothing affair.
Since every person can benefit from being active, these recommended daily doses don’t always have to be continuous, especially if “lack of time” is the major barrier to exercising. Exercise can be broken up throughout your day. Several short workout sessions are better than none at all! Moderate-intensity activities are defined as “somewhat hard,” such as walking 3 to 4.5 miles per hour, yoga, line dancing, shooting baskets, playing Frisbee, skateboarding, scrubbing or sweeping the floor, and putting groceries away. Vigorous-intensity physical activity is very strenuous and requires a determined effort to continue, for example jogging or running, wheeling a wheelchair, skating at a brisk pace, swimming laps, and jumping rope.
Plug into physical activity – even five or 10 minutes at a time – and feel the surge of health! If you live at Bellamay Grand, feel free to take advantage of our well-equipped fitness room, indoor basketball court, and community pool for exercise.
