Making Cake Pops in Your Gainesville, FL, Apartment
A cake pop is a form of cake styled as a lollipop. It features cake crumbles mixed with icing that are formed into small spheres, and then fixed onto the end of a stick. Making cake pops is not as difficult as one might imagine, and you can use the below recipe to try it out yourself!
Here are the ingredients you need to make cake pops in your Gainesville, Florida, apartment:
- Cake mix (any kind will do)
- Frosting
- Milk, dark, or white chocolate
- Sprinkles (optional)
- Lollipop sticks
The first step in making this dessert is to take the cake mix you’ve selected and bake it according to the package ingredients. When the cake has finished baking, take it out of the oven and let it cool completely before moving on to any other step in the process. Once the cake has cooled, you can begin constructing the cake pops according to the following step-by-step instructions:
- Step 1 – Take your cooled cake and transfer it into a large mixing bowl. Crumble up the cake until only small pieces remain, using your hands or an electric mixer.
- Step 2 – Mix in 1/2 cup of frosting to form a doughy texture. You may need to add more frosting if the frosting doesn’t coat all the crumbs.
- Step 3 – Begin to form the cake balls. Using a spoon, scoop out a small amount of the mixture and form a ball with your hands. Place the cake ball on a cookie sheet that is lined with parchment paper. Repeat until you have the desired number of cake balls. Once all the cake balls have been formed, place the cookie sheet in the freezer for 10 minutes.
- Step 4 – Melt the chocolate in a saucepan on the stove, or in a microwavable bowl in the microwave.
- Step 5 – Remove the cake balls from the freezer. Take a lollipop stick and dip two inches of one side of the stick into the melted chocolate, then insert the stick into a cake ball until it is a little less than halfway through. Then, dip the entire cake ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is completely coated. Set aside to cool, allowing the chocolate to harden. Continue until all the cake balls have been coated in chocolate.
- Step 6 – Once all the cake balls have cooled, dip them into the melted chocolate once more to ensure they are fully coated. If you’d like, you can also add fun toppings, like sprinkles or drizzles of frosting, to the treat.
- Step 7 – Cover and refrigerate all the cake balls until serving time to keep them fresh.
