Easy Ways to Clean the Counters in Your Gainesville Apartment
Cleaning the counters in the kitchen and bathrooms of your apartment is important to prevent the spread of germs. However, since these counters are each subjected to different germs, they require frequent cleaning with substances that will kill viruses, bacteria, mold, and other undesirable microorganisms. In this article, we’ll give you a few tips on how to clean each of these locations to help you prevent contamination.
For the kitchen counters, food born germs and mold are the most common contaminates. Bathrooms counters tend to be home to mold, too, as well as microorganisms that cause contagious illnesses (like colds, the flu, rotavirus, strep, etc.) Disinfectant sprays and premade sanitizing wipes at the store can do a decent job of cleaning kitchen and bathroom surfaces, but there are other, less expensive ways to clean counters, too. For example, isopropyl rubbing alcohol is a good antiseptic that works pretty well against bacteria and viruses. It’s easy to clean with, too – simply put pure rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and apply liberally to countertops, and then wipe clean with a towel. You’ll find that rubbing alcohol leaves no residue and the odor dissipates quickly, leaving behind a smooth, clean surface.
For dried food stains, you may need a more powerful store-bought cleaner and sponge with an abrasive pad. Be sure to change sponges regularly since their porous surface and moisture make them a prime habitat for many bacteria. In fact, bacteria’s affinity for moisture also makes it important to thoroughly dry your counter after cleaning as well.
