Many helmets come with pads in a variety of thicknesses to adjust the fit. Pads should be chosen so the helmet is as low on the head as possible and the pads touch the head from all sides.

They “Y” in the side straps should meet just below the ears.
The chin strap should fit snugly, so that a wide open mouth will pull the helmet down.
